Academic Fieldtrips

Foster Lake
Foster Lake sits atop Jericho Hill, about 5 minutes from Alfred University. Acquired by the University in 2002, Foster Lake is part of a 220-acre site available for academic use by the university. The Environmental Studies program has taken fieldtrips to the lake for wildlife and plant identification, forest profiling, and soil testing.

Kanakadea Park
Bruce Kershner was one of the 2003 Environmental Studies seminar series speakers. After his talk he led a group of students and community members on a fieldtrip to Kanakadea park.

Tree Plantation Bird Study
In ENS Research and Procedures I (ENS 240) students were taken to state forest land about 30 minutes from Alfred University. The field trip was led by Betsy Brooks, a local ornithologist.
