Course Logistics: Class will meet on Fridays from 12:20 to 1:10 in room 228.
Course Description: During the course of the semester, you will be introduced to a variety of contemporary issues in Environmental Studies. You will be expected to attend the ENS weekly seminar on Fridays and write a summary of each talk. We anticipate that by attending these seminars, you will get some ideas for your own senior research project.
Assignments: You will be responsible for writing a short (2 page) paper on 10 of the guest talks (there will be 12 total.) Proper use of the English language is expected and your papers should be word-processed. Poor grammar/spelling will be penalized.
Grading: Grading will be Pass or Fail based on attendance and on satisfactory completion of the writing assignments.
Deadlines/due dates: Short papers will be due at the beginning of class
one week after the presentation upon which they are based. All students
are expected to attend all Friday presentations. No late work will be accepted.
A schedule of seminar speakers will be handed out as soon as it is finalized.
